Barish Ki Dua – Dua For Rain

As we know, rain is also one of the blessings of Allah. Rain is the symbol of life. The crops flourish, and there is greenery everywhere with rain. Sometimes, when the rain stops and doesn’t last long, the risk of famine increases. In this situation, Muhammad (SAW) taught us Barish Ki Dua.

Barish Ki Dua - Dua For Rain

Beloved Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) teaches Muslims the duas (supplications) for every act. He (SAW) teaches duas for eating, drinking, traveling, sleeping, waking, and even for every small action. He (SAW) also taught us that if we are in trouble or need anything, we should only ask Allah for it. Verily, Allah alone can fulfill our needs.

If we recite dua , the rain will come and fulfill all our needs. In this article, we will teach you dua for rain. All duas are in Arabic. We also include transliteration, translation in English and Urdu for your better understanding. So, without further ado, let’s begin!

1. Barish Ki Dua

We find three duas for rain that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) prays from Allah. Let’s discuss one by one in detail:

اَللّٰھُمَّ اَغِثْنَا، اَللّٰھُمَّ اَغِثْنَا، اَللّٰھُمَّ اَغِثْنَا

Transliteration:

Allahumma Aghisna’ Allahumma Aghisna’ Allahumma Aghisna

English Translation:

O Allah Bless us with rain’ O Allah Bless us with rain’ O Allah Bless us with rain.

Urdu Translation:

اے اللہ! ہمیں بارش دے، اے اللہ! ہمیں بارش دے، اے اللہ! ہمیں بارش دے۔

Related Hadith:

Narrated Sharik: Anas Bin Malik said, A person entered the Mosque on a Friday through the gate facing the Daril-Qada’ and Allah’s Apostle was standing delivering the khutba( sermon). The man stood before Allah’s Apostle and said:

“ O Allah’s Apostle, livestock are dying, and the roads are cut off. Please pray to Allah for rain.”

So Allah’s Apostle (SAW) raised both his hands and said, اَللّٰھُمَّ اَغِثْنَا، اَللّٰھُمَّ اَغِثْنَا، اَللّٰھُمَّ اَغِثْنَا. Anas added, By Allah, there were no clouds in the sky and no house or building between us and the mountain of Sila. Then a big cloud like a shield appeared from behind it ( i.e., Silas Mountain), and when it came in the middle of the sky, it spread and then rained. By Allah, we could not see the sun for a week.

2. Dua For Rain

اَللّٰھُمَّ اسْقِنَا غَیْثًا مُّغِیْثًا مَّرِیْئًا مَّرِیْعًا نَّافِعًا غَیْرَ ضَآرٍّ عَاجِلًا غَیْرَ اٰجِلٍ

Transliteration:

Allahumma-skina ghaisan mughisan mari-an mari-an nafian ghaira zaarin aajilan ghaira aajil

English Translation:

O Allah, grant us rain, beneficial indeed, helpful, best ending, which brings freshness, is beneficial, do not cause any harm and comes early, not late.

Urdu Translation:

اے اللہ ! ہمیں بارش عنایت فرما ، ازحد مفید ، مددگار ، بہترین انجام والی ، جو شادابی لائے ، نفع آور ہو ، کسی ضرر کا باعث نہ بنے اور جلدی آئے ، دیر نہ کرے ۔

Related Hadith:

Narrated Hazrat Jabir Bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that some people approach to the Messenger of Allah (SAW) crying ( due to the lack of rain). He (SAW) prayed like this: اللَّهُمَّ اسْقِنَا غَيْثًا مُغِيثًا مَرِيئًا مَرِيعًا نَافِعًا غَيْرَ ضَارٍّ عَاجِلًا غَيْرَ آجِلٍ ( immediately after this prayer) a cloud fell over them. ( Sunan Abu Dawod Hadith#1169 Status: Sahih)

3. Barish Ki Dua

اَللّٰھُمَّ اسْقِ عِبَادَکَ وَبَھَآئِمَکَ وَانْشُرْ رَّحْمَتَکَ وَاَحْیِ بَلَدَکَ الْمَیِّتَ

Transliteration:

Allahumma-ski ibadaka wa bahaa-emaka wanshur rahmataka wa-ahye baladakal mayyit

English Translation:

O Allah, Provide water for your servants and cattle, display Your mercy and give life to your dead land.

Urdu Translation:

اے اللہ! اپنے بندوں اور اپنے چوپایوں کو پانی پلا اور اپنی رحمت پھیلا دے اور اپنے مردہ (بنجر، بے آباد) شہر کو زندہ کردے

Narrated Amr Bin Shoaib: On his father’s authority, he quoted his grandfather as saying: When the Messenger of Allah (SAW) prayed for rain, he said: اَللّٰھُمَّ اسْقِ عِبَادَکَ وَبَھَآئِمَکَ وَانْشُرْ رَّحْمَتَکَ وَاَحْیِ بَلَدَکَ الْمَیِّتَ This is the wording of Malik. (Sunan Abu Dawod Hadith# 1176 Status: Zaeef)

Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) prays the following dua when the rain comes.

اَللّٰھُمَّ صَیِّبًا نَّافِعًا

Allahumma sayyeban nafe-an

O Allah, let it be a strong, fruitful rain.

اے اللہ! (اس) بارش کو فائدہ مند بنا۔

Narrated Aisha: Whenever Allah’s Apostle saw the rain, he used to say, اَللّٰھُمَّ صَیِّبًا نَّافِعًا

Sometimes, once the rain starts, it doesn’t stop. There is a fear of disaster due to heavy and continuous rain. Once, during the time of the Holy Prophet (SAW), there was a lot of rain that did not seem to stop. It rained continuously for a week. People come to Allah’s Prophet and ask Him(SAW) to pray to Allah to withhold the rain. Then Allah’s Prophet raised his hands and said:

اَللّٰھُمَّ حَوَالَیْنَا وَلَا عَلَیْنَا، اَللّٰھُمَّ عَلَی الْاٰکَامِ وَالظِّرَابِ وَبُطُوْنِ الْاَوْدِیَۃِ وَمَنَابِتِ الشَّجَرِ

(Sahih Bukhari Hadith#1014)

Allahumma hawalaina wala alaina’ Allahumma alal-akami wazziraby wabutunil- awdiyaty wamanabity-shajari

O Allah! Let it rain around us and not on us. O Allah! On the plateaus, on the mountains, on the hills, in the valleys, and on the places where trees grow(let it rain).

اے اللہ! ہمارے اردگرد بارش برسا اور (اب) ہم پر نہ (برسا)۔ اے اللہ! ٹیلوں، پہاڑیوں، وادیوں کے درمیان اور درختوں کے اُگنے کی جگہوں پر (بارش برسا۔)

Benefits of Reading Rain Dua

Every Dua is taught specifically for a specific act and has distinct benefits. Similarly, dua for rain has particular benefits. When we ask Allah with the above duas for rain. Some benefits of these duas are the following:

  • It reminds us that Allah has only the authority to change anything.
  • Only Allah can send or stop the rain.
  • Allah shower the rain with its mercy.
  • Allah sends a rain that brings prosperity.
  • It doesn’t bring destruction.
