Dua e Qunoot- Dua For Witr

In Islam, every prayer is complete with dua. Allah loves that we supplicate to Him. Witr is an Arabic word that means “odd”. Witr is a prayer of three rakahs. Prophet Muhammad(SAW)  prayed Witr with Isha or tahajud Salah. He(SAW) recited Dua e qunoot in the third Rakah of Witr. qunoot is an Arabic word that means obedience, loyalty, or humility. So Dua e qunoot is the dua for obedience to our Almighty Allah.

Dua e qunoot – Shafi

Al-Hasan ibn Ali narrated it: The Messenger of Allah(SAW) taught me these words in Witr. He said: Say:

اَللّٰھُمَّ اھْدِنِیْ فِیْمَنْ ھَدَیْتَ وَعَافِنِیْ فِیْمَنْ عَافَیْتَ وَتَوَلَّنِیْ فِیْمَنْ تَوَلَّیْتَ وَبَارِکْ لِیْ فِیْمَآ اَعْطَیْتَ وَقِنِیْ شَرَّ مَا قَضَیْتَ فَاِنَّکَ تَقْضِیْ وَلَا یُقْضٰی عَلَیْکَ اِنَّہٗ لَا یَذِلُّ مَنْ وَّالَیْتَ (وَلَا یَعِزُّ مَنْ عَادَیْتَ) تَبَارَکْتَ رَبَّنَا وَتَعَالَیْتَ

          (Sunan Abu Daud Hadith#1425)

Transliteration

Allahumma ihdini fiman hadayta wa ‘afini fiman afayta wa tawallani fiman tawallayta wa barik li fima a’tayta, wa qini sharra ma qadayta, fa innaka taqdi wa la yuqda ‘alayk, wa innahu la yadhilluman walayta, tabarakta Rabbana wa at’alayt.

Dua e qunoot English Translation

O Allah, guide me among those whom You have turned in friendship among those You have guided, pardon me among those You have forgiven, turn to me in friendship among those on whom You have turned in friendship, and bless me in what You have bestowed, and save me from the evil of what You have decreed. For verily You decree, and none can influence You. And he is not humiliated whom You have befriended. Blessed are You, O Lord and Exalted. 

Dua e qunoot Urdu Translation

اے اللہ! تو مجھے ہدایت دے کر ان میں (داخل کر) جنہیں تونے ہدایت دی اور مجھے عافیت دے کر ان میں (شامل کر) جنہیں تونے عافیت دی اور میری سرپرستی فرما ان لوگوں میں جن کی تونے سرپرستی فرمائی اور میرے لیے ان چیزوں میں برکت فرما جو تونے عطا کیں اور مجھے ان فیصلوں کے شر سے بچا جو تونے کیے، اس لیے کہ تو ہی فیصلے کرتا ہے اور تیرے (فیصلے کے) خلاف کوئی فیصلہ نہیں ہوسکتا۔ واقعہ یہ ہے کہ وہ ذلیل نہیں ہوسکتا جس کا تو دوست بن جائے اور وہ معزز نہیں ہوسکتا جس سے تو دشمنی کرے اے ہمارے رب! تو بہت بابرکت اور نہایت بلند ہے۔

Dua e qunoot Translation in Hindi

ओ अल्लाह! अतः मेरी अगुवाई करो और मुझे उन लोगों में शामिल करो जिन्हें तुमने मार्ग दिखाया है और मुझे उनमें शामिल करो जिन्हें तुमने निर्देशित किया है और मुझे शांति प्रदान करो।और जिन लोगों की तू ने रक्षा की है उन में से मेरी भी रक्षा करऔर जो कुछ तू ने दिया है उस में मुझे आशीष दे, और जो न्याय तू ने किया है उसकी बुराई से मुझे बचा।क्योंकि आप अकेले ही निर्णय लेते हैं और कोई भी निर्णय आपके विरुद्ध नहीं हो सकता।सच तो यह है कि जिससे तुम मित्र बन जाते हो, वह नम्र नहीं हो सकता और जिससे तुम शत्रुता करते हो, वह सम्मानित नहीं हो सकता, हे हमारे प्रभु! बहुत धन्य और बहुत ऊँचा

Dua e qunoot – Hanfi

There is another famous dua, qunoot e Witr. Hanfi recites this dua.

اَللَّهُمَّ اِنَّا نَسۡتَعِيۡنُكَ وَنَسۡتَغْفِرُكَ وَنُؤۡمِنُ بِكَ وَنَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيۡكَ وَنُثۡنِىۡ عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡخَيۡرَ وَنَشۡكُرُكَ وَلَا نَكۡفُرُكَ وَنَخۡلَعُ وَنَتۡرُكُ مَنۡ يَّفۡجُرُكَ. اَللَّهُمَّ اِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَلَكَ نُصَلِّئ وَنَسۡجُدُ وَاِلَيۡكَ نَسۡعٰى ونَحۡفِدُ ونَرۡجُوۡا رَحۡمَتَكَ وَنَخۡشٰى عَذَابَكَ اِنَّ عَذَابَكَ بِالۡكُفَّارِ مُلۡحِقٌٌ

Transliteration

Allahumma Inna nastaeenuka wa nastaghfiruka wa numinubika wa natawakkalu alaika wa nusni alaikal khaira wa nashkuruka wala nakfuruka wanakhlao wa natruku mai-n yafjuruk Allahumma iyyaka nabudu walaka nusalli wa nasjudu wa elaika nas-aa wa nahfidu wa narju rahmataka wa nakhsha azabaka inna azabaka bilkuffari mulhik

English Translation

O Allah, we seek Your help and forgiveness, believe in You, put our trust in You, praise You for goodness, thank You, and do not disbelieve in You. And we will renounce and leave behind whoever deceives You. O God, to You we worship, and to You, we pray and prostate; to You, we seek, hope for Your mercy, and fear Your torment. Indeed, Your torment is with the disbelievers.

Urdu Translation:

اے اللہ، ہم تجھ سے مدد چاہتے ہیں، ہم تیری بخشش چاہتے ہیں، ہم تجھ پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں، ہم تجھ پر توکل کرتے ہیں، ہم نیکی کے لیے تیری تعریف کرتے ہیں، ہم تیرا شکر ادا کرتے ہیں، اور ہم تیرا کفر نہیں کرتے ہیں۔ جو بھی آپ کو دھوکہ دیتا ہے. اے معبود ہم تیری ہی عبادت کرتے ہیں، تجھ ہی سے سجدہ کرتے ہیں، تجھ سے ہی ہم چاہتے ہیں اور تیری رحمت کے امیدوار ہیں اور تیرے عذاب سے ڈرتے ہیں، بے شک تیرا عذاب کافروں کے ساتھ ہے۔

What is the Method of Reciting Dua e qunoot in Witr?

Witr namaz has three rakats. The first two rakats are performed in the same way as every prayer performed. In the third rakat, you have to recite Surah Fatiha with any other surah, then say Takbir and recite Dua e qunoot before going to ruku.

Which Dua Can be Recited if We Don’t Remember Dua e qunoot?

It is better to recite Dua e qunoot in Witr. But if you forget Dua e qunoot you can recite:

رَبَّنَا اٰتِنَا فِی الدُّنْیَا حَسَنَۃً وَّفِی الْاٰخِرَۃِ حَسَنَۃً وَّقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbana atina fi-dunya hasana wa fi-laakhiraty hasana waqina azaban-nar

اے ہمارے رب! ہمیں دنیا میں بھی بھلائی عطا فرما اور آخرت میں بھی بھلائی عطا فرما اور ہمیں آگ کے عذاب سے بچا

O our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and save us from the punishment of the Fire 

Benefits(Fazilat) of Dua e qunoot

Dua e qunoot is recited in Witr. Allah is odd and likes odd, so the Witr is a special prayer to our God. Every Dua taught by Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has unlimited benefits if we recite it by heart. Dua e qunoot is one of the best dua.
