Doodh Peene Ki Dua – Dua For Drinking Milk

Our Prophet Muhammad (SAW) likes Milk (doodh). Whenever He (SAW) drinks milk, He never eats anything else. He considers milk as a complete meal. Now, science has made it true that milk is a complete food. Milk is full of essential nutrients, protein and calcium. Everyone needs these nutrients in their daily routine.

As we know, He(SAW) never starts any kind of work without saying a specific dua or in the name of Allah. He (SAW) teaches us a lot of duas. He(SAW) also recites dua for drinking milk. In this article, we are going to discuss dua for drinking milk. We say it doodh peene ki dua in Urdu.

Doodh Peene Ki Dua

We find just one dua for drinking milk in Hadith. You can say it before drinking milk. There is no other Dua in Hadith after drinking milk. Here is the Dua for drinking milk;

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ وَزِدْنَا مِنْهُ 

Transliteration;

Allāhumma bārik lanā fīhi wa zidnā minhu

Translation in Urdu;

اے اللہ! ہمیں اس میں برکت اور مزید اس سے اچھا کھلا

Translation in English;

O Allah bless it for us and grant us increase in it. 

Translation in Hindi;

ओ अल्लाह! हम इससे धन्य हों और इससे भी अधिक धन्य हों

Hadith in the Context of Dua for Drinking Milk

Ibn e Annas narrated: I entered with the Messenger of Allah (SAW), I and Khalid bin Walid upon Maimoonah, so she brought us a vessel of milk. The Messenger of Allah(SAW) drank from it. I was upon his right and, Khalid was upon left, so He (SAW) said to me:

The (turn to) drink is for you, so if you wish, you could choose to grant it to Khalid. So I said: I would not prefer anyone (above myself) for your leftovers.

Then the messenger of Allah(SAW) said: Whoever Allah feeds some food then let him say: اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ وَأَطْعِمْنَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُ and whomsoever Allah gives milk to drink, then let him say: اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ وَزِدْنَا مِنْهُ  (Allāhumma bārik lanā fīhi wa zidnā minhu). And the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, There is nothing that suffices in the place of food and drink except for milk.

(Sunan Tirmizi Haadith # 3455)

This Hadith shows that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) likes to drink milk. And it becomes clear that milk is the only thing that can be used for both food and drink. It means that if we don’t get anything to eat, we can just drink milk and get the whole nutrition of food.

Benefits of Doodh Peene Ki Dua

By reciting doodh peene ki dua we can get numerous benefits from milk. Some of these benefits include the following:

• By reciting dua for drinking milk, we thank Allah. 
• When we thank Allah, Allah gives us more blessings.
• With the recitation of doodh peene ki dua, Allah put Barakah in our milk.
• When Allah puts Barakah in a thing, it can never be lacking.

• Satan goes away from us and cannot contribute to drinking our milk.
